I help clients avoid conflict, save time and money, and protect their families! Yes, I know what you’re thinking: "There’s no 'magic bullet' that can do all of that." Actually, there is… it’s called estate planning. In my 25 years of practicing law, I’ve handled many different types of cases – employment law, construction law, family law, and more. Early on, though, I knew what I loved… estate planning. Why?... Because almost every time a client left my office, they were happy, at peace, and knew they’d done something important and meaningful for their family.
Unlike litigation, where even winners feel like losers, estate planning almost always has great value. It helps avoid conflict, it saves significant time and money, and it serves to protect family relationships.
Preparing estate planning documents (1) allows you to clearly and legally decide how you want your assets distributed at your death and to choose who you trust to make those distributions. If properly done, planning also (2) permits your beneficiaries/family to skirt the significant time, hassle, and expense of probate court. And finally, estate planning lets you (3) decide when your beneficiaries receive their inheritance and under what conditions, who will raise your minor children, and who will have legal authority to make financial and medical decisions on your behalf, avoiding guardianship.
So, you can see why and how creating a plan for your family is a good thing, and why those who do have peace of mind when they walk out my door.
